“Serving This Present Age”; Just as the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
It is with great pride and pleasure that I look back on this Quadrennial and see the progress of the 16th Episcopal District. Striving to grasp the promise of God in our first year’s theme, ”Remember not the former things, but behold I will do a new thing” (Isaiah 43:18), and “Launch Out into the deep”, (Luke 5:4-6) by “Casting our nets till our souls goals are met.” The enthusiasm with which we have worked to achieve these goals is evident all across the 16th District and in the growth and building that we can now experience.
We are confident that serving the present age is possible. We have not neglected our studies and remain committed to progressing with church school, YPD, Missionary outreach, and economic development that will prompt us to be self reliant and alive in our communities. It is our reality to minister to the Spiritual, Intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people. The African Methodist Episcopal Church is founded on these principles and in our individual churches we must keep this as our individual and congregational mission, “To Serve This Present Age.”
We know the power of prayer and we must keep our District Prayer and Newsletters alive to keep communications between all of the Conferences, to stay connected and supportive as a District. The clergy, the Lay Organization, the Missionary Society and the YPD are equipped with great leadership for” Serving this Present Age.” I am so honored to be able to serve the Sixteenth Episcopal District.
Again, I want to thank you for the Love I received from you when Super D made his transition to be with the Lord. It is your prayer support and constant concern that sustains me daily.
In the Master’s Service,
Bishop Carolyn Tyler Guidry
